As a pioneer of the online health care industry, our client provide connectivity solutions that make it easy for patients, providers and other health care organizations to securely exchange information.

Business Need

Electronic Health Records (EHR) system is a massive one and is designed to work on an open network for simple electronic system start-up or add-on solutions in the future. Technically, the EHR system would enable the Practitioner to view a patient's full details and also help doctors giving emergency treatment to quickly determine the allergies and previous history of diseases. Youda Technology built a successful EHR system to demonstrate what actually can be done in online health care industry and what can be improved.

Challenges

Youda Technology clearly identifies the shape of things to come. The EHR system, which clearly highlighted the benefits would ensure ready acceptance and achieving this was Youda Technology' biggest challenge.

Additionally:

• The relationships were complex and the ownership of the patient was confusing. The system had to restrict the access to patient’s health records to secure patient’s personal and health information.
• Patient care services were impacted by rising costs and so the system had to show that it was possible to cut costs and improve effectiveness by streamlining processes.
• An increasing proportion of the ageing population with long-term diseases, the system Youda Technology developed had to prove useful when it came to treating them. Changes in the disease profile also need to be tracked.
• The data provided would come from another health care system or organization and all this data from external system had to be integrated to generate a clear and concise record of the patient's medical history.
  
• Youda Technology had to define test standards and test cases that thoroughly covered the whole system and ensure the system’s quality.
• Youda Technology had to make constant changes based on client’s feedback , which would ensure that the actual system would deliver benefits to patients and doctors alike

Our Solution

Youda Technology relied on the Agile Process to reduce the time to market and cost of the project. As a first step, Youda Technology analyzed the existing high-level user requirement documents and assisted in preparing requirements for defining the solution of the EHR system. After this was achieved, the team created the detailed design specifications.

Youda Technology then divided the whole development lifecycle to five small sprints. In each sprint, Youda Technology will finish the work in a prioritized order and integrated in the work finished in the previous sprints. Youda Technology run 3 weeks of regression test to ensure the system is stable, functions well and responds quickly.

Since various external systems were involved and it was not an easy integration, Youda Technology built a Message Integration Center to process the message received from external systems, parsed the message and stored the parsed information to the database. The Message Integration Center will also be responsible for the message sent to external system from the EHR System.

The biggest advantage was that Youda Technology proved the fact that EHR system could facilitate the communication between patients and practitioners. Other benefits included:
